Motherwell Community Forum
The Forum's main aims are to bring local groups together to help improve the Motherwell area and to influence the policy decision-making processes of North Lanarkshire Council.
The opportunity to directly influence policy is in accordance with the Local Government Scotland Act, which places a duty on Local Authorities to consult on service provision at a local level.
Motherwell Community Forum meet on a monthly basis in Motherwell Civic Centre and each meeting usually includes a presentation from a local organisation discussing the services and facilities they provide. Presentations are also provided by Council Departments, including by Social Work and Community Services.
Proposed future developments by the Forum include becoming equal partners in the decision - making process and to increase membership.
Forum membership is open to any local person, whether they represent a particular community group/organisation or not.
It is also hoped a wider cross section of the community, especially young people, become more actively involved in the future Forum activity.
